Fans Upset With JioCinema For Poor Streaming During FIFA WC Opener

One of the world’s biggest sporting events — the FIFA World Cup — kicked off with a grand opening ceremony on Sunday Morgan Freeman wowed the likes of BTS singer Jung Kook at the Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor, Qatar. However, fans in India had trouble streaming the opening ceremony as Jio Cinema continued to buffer. Many users then took to Twitter to slam the platform for not providing the best possible streaming for the world’s biggest event.

The problem was not limited to the opening ceremony, but fans also had trouble watching the match between Qatar and Ecuador.

Soon, fans started complaining on Twitter, with the official handle of Jio Cinemas tweeting that users should update the app to get the best possible streaming. However, even after the update, users continued to have problems.

The opening match of the FIFA World Cup was contested between Qatar and Ecuador, and it was the latter who came out on top, winning the competition 2–0.

Qatar became the first home team to lose their World Cup opener with a 2-0 win over hosts Ecuador. The end of Valencia Sunday scored twice in the curtain-raiser of the tournament.

Asian champions Qatar enjoyed the majority of the crowd’s support at the 60,000-capacity Al Bayt Stadium, but could not follow up a dazzling opening ceremony with a statement performance. Ecuador thought they had a dream start when they silenced the home fans as Valencia went ahead, only for the goal to be ruled out by VAR for offside in the build-up.
