Fire Rages In Delhi Market, 50 Shops Burnt, Over 150 Firefighters On Spot

According to the fire service, the locals informed them at 9:20 pm

New Delhi:

A huge fire broke out at Bhagirath Palace Market in Old Delhi’s Chandni Chowk last evening which is yet to be brought under control. About 150 fire engines are at the scene trying to douse the fire.

The fire department said that locals informed them of the incident at 9.20 pm, after which they rushed to the spot in a fire engine.

Old Delhi’s narrow lanes made it difficult for fire trucks to reach the spot.

“A large part of the building has been damaged and officials are using remote control fire fighting machines to douse the fire,” said Atul Garg, Director of Delhi Fire Services.

A video showed the fire touching power lines and spreading to neighboring buildings in the area.

No casualty was reported in the incident, officials said.
