Gluten Free Biscuits and Gravy: Southern Style

To make these homemade gluten-free biscuits and gravy, you’ll need to start with your dry ingredients, which include gluten-free flour, baking powder, and salt. Once your flour mixture is well blended, begin adding your wet ingredients, starting with a neutral vinegar to activate the baking soda. Then add your eggs and egg whites to form a soft dough. Shape the dough into biscuits, brush with egg yolks and bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown. When your biscuits are in the oven, you can make homemade sausage gravy! Brown your sausage in a large skillet over medium heat. While your sausage is cooking, combine your milk of choice with gluten-free flour in a small glass. Stir until combined and slowly add to your pan. Season your gravy with garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper and stir until thickened. Once your gravy has thickened, it’s ready to serve.   2. Fun video! Thank you. I have always added a small bit, may be 1/4 or less of chorizo to the regular pork sausage and half of a teaspoon of ground fennel seed. And of course a decent amount of black pepper.

  5. You didn't brown the flour first so I was wondering if it has the raw flour taste? As a southerner, we brown the sausage with parts of the sausage having burnt scrapings at the bottom. Then we add a little lard or butter to get those scrapings up and brown the flour in those scrapings first….then add cream or milk etc. I am now gluten intolerant. Was looking for ideas. Want to know if this has an uncooked flour taste or not?
