Team India’s wicket-keeper batsman Sanju Samson has been ruled out of the remainder of the 3-match T20I series against Sri Lanka. Samson injured his left knee while trying to field the ball near the boundary rope during the 1st T20I at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. “He was taken by the BCCI medical team in Mumbai this afternoon for a scan and expert opinion and has been advised rest and rehabilitation,” a BCCI statement said.

“All India Senior Selection Committee Names Jitesh Sharma to Replace Sanju Samson”.

Samson’s injury could give way to Rahul Tripathi’s debut. Tripathi, a consistent IPL performer, has traveled with the squad for some time but is yet to play. India lead the three-match series 1-0 after their narrow two-run win in the opener.

In the first T20, Shivam Mavi A dream debut came with a relentless display of fast bowling as India built up a narrow two-run margin against a spirited Sri Lankan side in the first T20I in Mumbai on Tuesday. The Indian batsmen found it difficult to get rid of the Sri Lankan spinners earlier Deepak Hooda (41*) and Akshar Patel (31*) took the hosts to 162 for five. The Sri Lankans certainly had the energy to chase down 163 but Mavi’s strikes at the front and back of the innings tilted the game in favor of the home team.

The game went down to the wire as spinner Akshar Patel managed to defend 13 runs in the last over. Mavi completed the enviable tally with four wickets for 22 runs in four overs.

The fight is lost from the captain Dasun Shanaka (45 off 27) and Chamika Karunaratne (23 not out from 16) went in vain as Sri Lanka posted 160 all out in 20 overs.

This is India’s lowest defense in this stadium.
