Los Angeles Lakers the star LeBron James He got another birthday wish after turning 38 on Friday. This time the man he’s chasing on the NBA’s all-time scoring list: Kareem Abdul Jabbar.
Abdul-Jabbar, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer and six-time NBA champion, gave LeBron a shout-out Saturday morning.

The 38,388 he’s talking about is the all-time point total, which would surpass Abdul-Jabbar’s record of 38,387. Abdul Jabbar played for The Milwaukee Bucks and the Lakers from 1969 to ’89. He set the scoring mark in April 1984, about eight months before James was born.
James is 528 points behind Abdul-Jabbar. According to ESPN’s projectionsJames’ record will be broken in early February.
King James took another big chunk out of a point deficit on his birthday. He scored 47 points on Friday night 130-121 win on Atlanta Hawks.
“Dude is awesome, nothing short of amazing,” Lakers coach Darwin Hamm said. He said after the game. “But it’s something I expect. Like, it doesn’t blow me away. It’s just something I expect from him. It’s just, ‘Damn! Keep going’.”
